This week we started off by getting into to groups for our project and we began brain storming ideas together on what we all wanted our web site to be based on. The brief itself was pretty open ended and allowed us to base the project on any media form we wanted as long as it was web based and it's subject could be anything we liked.
As a group we came up with some initial ideas we thought could work well for the project. We thought we could create an interactive page of a cartoon style drawing of Bristol, condensing familiar landmarks into one web page. This page would then hold a number of links coming from a few of the landmarks. For example, the club 'Thekla' could hold links to nightlife around Bristol, such as hot picks for the week and big up and coming events. There could also be a link to small independent shops around Bristol and to items of clothing from these shops which the sites recommends. We also want to use the site to include music videos and links to up and coming bands, producers and djs in Bristol to help push them forward and get noticed.
These our are starting ideas from the project, we are planning to include more aspects to the site, and we haven't fully decided upon the angle we want to direct the site and to what audience we intend it to be for.
One web site which gave us influence towards how we want to design our site, was Bestival's 2010 site, which includes an interactive interface of a drawing of the festival itself. Though links do not come from the drawings on this site and our placed on top of the page.
